漁業常見的底拖網捕撈法，將海洋沉積物中的碳釋放到海水中

由26位海洋生物學家、氣候專家和經濟學家合著的研究報告指出，漁業常見的底拖網捕撈法，因為使用沉重的網沿著海床拖行，每年「抽出」10億噸的碳。海洋沉積物是世界上最大的碳儲存庫。根據該研究，碳從海底沉積物釋放到海水中，增加海洋酸化程度，不利海洋生產力和生物多樣性。
